Tea Party at Tea Embassy

Our Summer Fun has begun....lots more to follow!
All dressed up and ready to go to a tea party in downtown Austin!
900 Rio Grande
After you order your tea and they set up each individual cup with a timer depending on what type of tea you order......I had a green tea called Almond Cookie
 (organic tea, almond, and coconut).
It was mighty tasty...I bought some to bring home. I hope to try it today!
It was mighty hard waiting for our tea to brew....Rock Sugar was her appetizer!
Thank you Miss Lesley for organizing this amazing field trip for the MFC!
A fun time had by all.....we ate at Kerbye Lane Cafe after our tea party!
(As you know I am a die hard Texas Longhorn Fan...but I have no idea why my left hand is doing "Hook'em Horns" in this picture.....maybe I was holding something?)

Supper Friends Dinner on Friday, February 11th, 2011!
The SWOOP House @ 3012 Gonzales St., Austin, TX 78702
This is one of the best kept secrets in Austin...and the best food in town!
The dinner bunch......David, Vicki, Rob, Me, Diana, and Matt
We had a blast again....everytime we go we make new friends
(or on some cases.....FOES!!)
There is never a dull moment at the Swoop House!

The menu tonight was selected by a future bride and her groom..
.they were trying out the food for their wedding...
we loved the menu with some all-time favorites!

THE MENU

Passed Hors D’Oeuvres
Aged Cheddar and Jalapeno-Red Onion Marmalade on Homemade Shortbread Crackers
Delicious and served warm
Deviled Eggs topped with Praline Bacon
The BEST!
I bet I had four of these eggs ~ the praline bacon was to die for...
Rob asked if he could just have a plate of  it!!
During the social hour before dinner was served...we drank Hard Lemonade made
with grapefruit vodka.
The first picture was taken by accident then we took a group one!

1st Course
Petit Meatloaf Sliders on Hawaiian Roll with Creole Onion Relish,
 Queso Oaxaca & Haystack Potatoes
AMAZING!!  I am a huge meatloaf fan anyway....
2nd Course
Lobster, Macaroni & Three Cheese Gratinée with Buttery Panko Crust and Snipped Chives
We all agree...this was the BEST.
The lobster was huge and there were many pieces in each of our dishes.
It came out piping hot..crunchy topping.....Rob is still talking about it!
3rd Course
Field Greens with Candied Pecans, Tomatoes, Sangria Onions, Carrots & Citrus-Sherry Vinaigrette

4th Course
Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Cream Gravy, "Tres Leches" Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans with Roasted Pearl Onions & Buttery Biscuits
GREAT..but by this point I couldn't eat another bite...this is now in my refrigerator
for a meal later on in the weekend.
The "Tres Leches" Mashed Potatoes ...mmmm!!
Made from Buttermilk, Cream, and Butter!
5th Course ~ Dessert
Polenta Pineapple Upside Down Cake with Strawberry Sauce & Pecan Praline Semifreddo
I did manage to eat this..and it was amazing!
I am a SWEET FREAK....and I loved it!
The pineapple upside down mini cake was crusted with pineapple.
Served with a cube of ice cream...laying on top of praline sauce and drizzled with berry syrup!
Loved it!

We hope to do a dinner with them again soon!

Wild Game in Elroy, Texas!

What is in Elroy, Texas?
Wild Bubba’s ~ Wild Game Grill serves up burgers that are a little on the “Wild Side”.
Wild Bubba makes burgers using wild game such as buffalo, antelope, elk, alligator, cabrito, axis venison, black bear, ostrich, and yak to name a few.
The community of Elroy is located on FM 812, east of Hwy 183,
about 12 miles south of Austin.
What FUN!!  If you have not been..you gotta go!
We were the only 8 people in the place....and we shut it down at 8:30 pm!
BYOB....and hot sauce...and Splenda!!
We had to go to the convience store next door for the Pace!
Notice we sat at the table reserved for Red McCombs and Tavo Hellmund
(the money men behind the new Formula One track in Elroy)!
I had a buffalo burger...Rob had an antelope burger...
and the onion rings were pretty tastey, too!
Then for dessert we had to visit the convience store AGAIN....look what we found!
Next time "Bubba" assured us if we called ahead he would make us some
"special appitizers" and his sister would make us a pan of brownies!
So...next time the ONION CREEK TENNIS crew will make reservations!!
Wyman "Wild Bubba" Gilliam, owner of the restaurant
Rob standing by the Grand Prix Formula One wall.....
the new track will be built just yards from "Bubba's" grill.
Formula One hasn't raced in the U.S. since 2007 after an eight-year run at
Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Former San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Vikings
owner Red McCombs is a key investor backing the new
U.S. Grand Prix Formula One Track in Elroy - along with Tavo Hellmund.
(More information that you wanted to know...I KNOW!!)

Anyway...who knows if "Wild Bubba's" will still be at this location,
if he will build a 5 story hotel onthis property,
or if he will sell his land for millions? He tells many tales/jokes about it....
We will know the REAL truth in 2012!
He is even thinking of builing a new location in ATX...so cool!
We will be back soon......for buffalo chili (and brownies, of course!!)
